Bank Holiday Travel Inspiration

Last bank holiday weekend, Matthias and I went on a little roadtrip to Normandy and came back feeling completely re-energised. So I wanted to share early summer weekend and bank holiday ideas with you. Each of these beautiful destinations are special to us and Sports Philosophy in different ways so we hope you enjoy them!

Calvados - Deauville - Parisian Riviera

Deauville is a classic. People have been escaping to Deauville from Paris for decades, a town full of character, style and elegance. Only a short flight from London, this is the perfect escape to indulge in some French cuisine, horse riding on the beach and even some historical sightseeing over a weekend.

Visit the biggest port of the area and enjoy walking on the cliffs in Etretat. I’m also a serious foodie so I would definitely recommend visiting the fish market of Trouville for the freshest seafood, as well as local markets for home-grown fruits and vegetables, French cheese and Calvados (apple brandy). Need I say more?!

Depending on the season there are different events going on in Deauville, including horse racing, sailing competitions and film festivals. We stayed at the cutest B&B - Manoir des Lions de Tourgéville, which only has a few carefully decorated rooms and beautiful dining room for a relaxing breakfast before heading out to discovering the area.

Vila Vita Parc – Algarve, Portugal

Our production facilities are based in Portugal, and not too far away, you will find Vila Vita Parc - one of the most perfect oasis you can find without having to put up with a long flight. Cut off from any troubles of the world to find yourself surrounded by everything you could want: golf, horse riding, wellbeing and fitness centre, a two-Michelin star restaurant and a beautiful sandy beach. Whether you want a personal trainer and physiotherapist or prefer relaxing in the spa, they offer it all! It’s also great for families as they host a wide range of activities for children, while you can enjoy your holiday to the fullest. This is definitely high up on my holiday list!

San Gimignano, Siena, Tuscany – The Town of Fine Towers

Italy is where all of Sports Philosophy's performance materials come from, and Tuscany is one of my favourite places. The small medieval town, San Gimignano, is just breath-taking. Sitting on a hilltop, you are privy to a gorgeous view over the beautiful Italian landscape – definitely worth having a gelato (or a glass of wine) while taking in the beauty!

I would recommend staying at Il Casolare di Bucciano, a 500-year-old farmhouse positioned in the countryside amidst beautiful vineyards, with a beautiful view of San Gimignano’s skyline. Enjoy swimming in the pool, sunbathing in the private gardens and of course enjoy the most delicious Italian cuisine.

Enjoy! Stella xx
